It’s very easy to feel left out in the dark when it comes to understanding how effective your current SEO campaign is. Although many believe SEO is akin to voodoo, there are several tips and tools you can utilize to discover exactly how well you (or they!) are doing.

3 Tips for checking the progress of your SEO

Are you getting Organic search visitors? — Are you getting or starting to get, a larger percentage of your site visitors from the search engines?

Do your site pages rank? — Can you find your pages on or near the first page of Google for your chosen keywords?

Is your site converting? — It does you no earthly good to have a whole lot of visitors and then have them exit without having done what you would like them to do, be it that is to purchase, subscribe or whatever your goal is.

3 Awesome Tools you can use!

You don’t need to go this alone! There are numerous SEO tools in the marketplace, some free and others paid, that will do an excellent job of reporting the exact state of your SEO. Here are three of our favorites.

Google Analytics — Although there is an upgrade available, the free version is most likely all you’ll ever need. Stuffed with a vast amount of data, right from the horse’s mouth, GA will let you know in no uncertain terms which direction your SEO is headed.

Ahrefs — Has a variety of useful tools you can use both paid and free. The free version should be enough to get you started on one site. Reports, backlinks, competition comparison, and social mentions tracker are available in the free version.

SEMRush — An incredible tool for deciphering keywords and competition, SEMRush collects SERP data for more than 106 million keywords and 71 million domains, providing you all the ammunition you need to make well-informed choices about your SEO.

Whichever tools you employ, spend some time to get into your data, and see where you are winning and falling short. It’s the real key to moving ahead in SEO!
